STORM ACADEMY WELCOME SKILLS COACH FOR SPECIAL SESSION

17 Jun 2019 by Seth Bennett

The Manchester Storm Academy is hosting an evening of goalscoring and creative play training on Tuesday night. Coventry Blaze skills development coach Dayle Keen will be joining the club's coaching staff to deliver 90 minutes of focussed skills development.

Keen became the Elite League's first skills coach when he signed with the Coventry Blaze last summer, but prior to that has worked with some of the most exciting prospects in Swedish hockey. He also has been a main stay with Best of British Hockey Schools.

"I’m really excited to work with the young players here in Manchester. Speaking with officials from the club we will be focusing on the technical skills associated with creating and scoring goals." Keen added, "It will be a fun and engaging practice that all will enjoy"

Storm Academy head coach Nick Crawley is delighted to be joining forces with Keen:

"As a club we are always looking where we can make incremental gains to maximise the development of all our players. Different coaches bringing different methods, a great way to push the players and take them outside their comfort zone which is where they grow. Keeno is just the type of coach to achieve this.

"He’s a professional who specialises in skill development and will bring some techniques to the session that will help develop a fundamental part of our players."

It is not just the players who will benefit from the session on Tuesday night. Crawley believes it is a great chances for the club's coaches to learn as well.

"It’s also an opportunity for our coaching team to watch a someone work at close quarters. With his experience in developing players I am sure Keeno will share plenty with us that we can use at the club in the future. I’m really looking forward to the sessions and seeing what he brings on Tuesday."
