STORM ACADEMY BRING IN OLYMPIAN TO COACH SPEED

6 Jul 2019 by Seth Bennett

The Manchester Storm Academy is delighted to welcome Olympian and World Championship medalist Jenny Meadows to work with the players on Thursday night.

Meadows won two world championship bronze medals in 2009 and became world indoor champion over 800m in 2011. Since retiring she and husband Trevor Painter have set up the company Faster Feet which coaches speed development to kids across England.

There are 30 places available for the 2 hour bespoke training session which will work on the following:

•look at how they naturally move and their body positions then make suggestions how they can move more efficiently
•work on their reaction times and how to focus and make decisions quickly
•drills and skills to increase their leg speed and multi-directional movement speed
•all these skills are transferable from sprinting to ice hockey as both sports require the same functional movement patterns as well as speed, reaction and explosive power.
•it’s really important to work on these skills as youngsters as they can help with co-ordination, pure speed and power, control of movement and obviously enjoyment.

We will also work on some hockey related things with stick handling skills in a hockey circuit, so sticks and gloves required.

The session will begin at 7pm at a location to be confirmed. The cost will be £5 per player.
